Ready, Set, Go!

In November 2008, I decided 2009 would be the year that I row the Tasman. I have planned this trip many a time in my head and now here I am launching an official campaign to be the first person to row from Australia to New Zealand solo and unassisted.

To give you a bit of history, my Dad Colin Quincey was the first person to row the Tasman in 1977. It took him 63 Days and 7 hours since then no one else has crossed the Tasman rowing solo.

I have always thought, “Why can’t I do it?”, and on November 1st this year I will discover whether I am made of the same stuff as I set out from Forster, Australia to row around 2800km and aim for Taranaki, New Zealand. With a call to Salt House Boat Building in November, the process was under way and the count down had begun.

www.tasmantrespasser.com is now live and full of information about my adventure and the original crossing. Tasman Trespasser was the name of my Father’s boat and my boat will be named Tasman Trespasser 2, in case you where wondering where the name came from.

Things to watch out for: Tasman Trespasser will be launching an online competition soon with heaps of awesome prizes for every one.

Shaun will be rowing in pubs and Westfield shopping centres around New Zealand so keep an eye on the website to find out where he will be next and the happy hour specials while he is rowing.

Charity Ball date to be announced soon with guest speakers.

Quincey Park – A park has been named recently after my father in Marcus beach

“Quincey Park”

The hunt for a principal sponsor is on and I am happy to meet with any one regarding this.

BE A PART OF THE ADVENTURE

If you would like to be a part of the Tasman Trespasser adventure, you can buy your Family name on the boat or company name for $50 payable through the website using credit card. Alternatively, post a cheque to PO Box 32496, Devonport, Auckland. The names will be on the front of the main cabin so i can read them as I row across the Tasman.
