Lightning bolts & weather faults // Day 6

This morning Shaun expected to wake to rowable conditions and a 10-15Knot N-NW wind. Instead, a storm is battering straight into his nose. This shows the true unpredictable nature of the Tasman! He was also late to check in this morning because he was busy trying to ground his boat as there were some flashes of lightning.

Although Shaun is physically strong and still mentally sound he is rather annoyed to be back in his cabin. We can only but hope that the storm passes quickly and he can get back on the oars.

As at 8am this morning the Tasman Trespasser 2 is 200 nautical miles SE from Coff’s Harbour and roughly the same E from Forster. The plan now is to head E instead of SE  to avoid a large system that is forecast for later in the week.

Keep the support flowing and check Shaun’s tweets (@tasmanrower)

Also learning a thing or two but don’t quite understand what is meant by “grounding” TT2. Bucky – can you respond and enlighten me please?
