Hey mate
Well done on the full service and right choice to leave it for a few days and take advantage of prevailing winds. The first few days of rationing are going to suck. But the body will adapt pretty fast and you’ll be fine. Most important thing now is that with no fresh water for bathing you’re going to need to keep on top of the hygiene to prevent sores. Laying on deck with your bum in the sun seems to help and hopefully you’ve got an ample stash of wet wipes. If you have any wet meals onboard start eating them all as it means you can drink your water rather than use it to rehydrate freeze dried meals. Ditto on the snacks so go nuts on that stuff for a bit.
Re the hand pumping next time you try it give it a go for half an hour to try and get the water flowing through. It will literally come out drop by drop, especially at first. It’s slow and very laborious – it can take about 45mins hard pumping to fill a 1.5L bottle.
Keep up the awesome work. You’ll get there no worries.
