Slow progress // Day 12 & 13
The easterlies really battered into Tasman Trespasser 2 on Sunday and yesterday, making rowing very difficult. Shaun relied on the sea anchor to keep him inching slowly eastward.
Over these two days his steering cable snapped twice however Shaun is confident he has fixed the problem.
Mentally and physically Shaun is still very strong and is now used to his routine. He has a positive outlook regarding the bad weather he is facing as well.

Hello Quincey,
You missed nothing at NRC’s. Weather was awful & so many races cancelled. We continue to watch your progress with great interest & many thoughts of how strong & motivated you have to be to be doing what you are. Keep up the excellent work, stay focussed, and may the tides & ol’ Neptune be with you. Have you still got the company of the Cosby’s? God bless.
The Bucks.
Hi Quincey, Thinking of you…Whew, I would be very sick by now, glad you are coping witheverything….Spoke to OPlly yesterday, and he said he send you messages and thinks of you every day, and what a wonderful job Bucky is doing as your reporter….Hope these Easterlies, keep moving East and then give you some nicer rides…..Regards Lorelle and Tony Sheeran
Big Q dog.
You’re an inspiration to us all, keep up the good work.
Loved your comment in the Hearld when they asked if you were motivated, (doesn’t really matter if your motivated or not, you’ve still got to row to NZ), that’ll go good in the book.
Keep your arse down and your head up.
We’ll talk soon
just looked at the map again and you know if i zoom out your little boat actually reaches across the ditch – touching both Aus and NZ – EXACTLY as it will be – ZOOM it Quincey – just wish we could do it that easy for you, also sounds like you had the same weather as NRCs – just wanted you to feel part of it i guess – anyway everyone is thinking and talking about you and Bucky is doing a great job keeping us updated – xxxx KC
Mate! Great to hear that you are in good form and you are crushing the tough conditions. Thought of you over the weekend as we rowed the mount for NI Regionals. Saturday was big surf and great racing, muds and Vice made the semi’s but both got bad runs so didnt make top 6. Woke up to crazy weather on Sunday and strong surf around 6-8ft on some sets. They sent the mens out for one heat, our crew flipped one the way home and snapped the sweep oar. I was the only one holding the boat over the line plus with only 2 oars we got DQ’d, great fun though! The B crew came second in their heat, had a great race out there. After that round, they called the whole carnival off.
Good luck out there mate, hope you enjoyed the surf boat update. will send another one through after north island champs this weekend.
