Keep it up Shaun, can’t believe you are nearly home. Hope all the signs that you are getting closer to land continue to motivate you to get your feet on some dry ground early next week. Enjoy the last few days at sea and hope you reflect on what a truely brave and amazing thing you are about to finish.

  9. Jackie Grant says:

Just looked at the map. Are you sure you can’t just about reach over and touch good old NZ. It looks like you are soooooooooo close. Keep up the awesome effort, you are definitely on the last homeward stretch. Such a great achievement. Proud to know you even if you did dump the bronze training on me.

  10. Hi Quiney, you are truly amazing, looking forward to having you back on dry land, c u real soon. Love the Vos’s

  11. Bloody impressive Quincey, what an amazing adventure. Inspirational. Keep pulling on those oars (carefully) mate. The land of the long white cloud is calling stronger than ever before. Take it easy, Pike.

  12. Michael Sharpe says:

Mate, we’re all thinking of you as this south westerly is starting to crank up. Hopefully it’s not too ugly overnight and gives you a nice tail-wind as you move towards land. You have inspired us all with your ambition and your sense of adventure, your humbleness, courage and determination. Sir Ed would have been proud, and would have joined the long line of kiwi’s wanting to shake your hand and buy you a beer – Mike and Jane

  13. Ben Quincey says:

    BRING IT HOME SHAUN!

  14. The Dodwells says:

  16. Mary Shanahan says:

Victoria I think Shaun will let the world know when he spots land! I’ve been told it’s approximately 30km off shore? It’s a good question.

  17. Soak up these last few days mate. You are a legend. If you are in on Sunday, I’m in the car and up there, if not I will take sick days next week.

Hi Shaun, I’ve been following your progress with much incredulation and have shed tears this morning watching the video and reading your support. Stay strong and enjoy returning to your loved ones. Indeed a superlative effort!

  19. Lorelle Sheeran says:

Morning Shaun, When do we leave to meet you..Be good to see your smiling face, hope the weather stays helpful xxx See your Mum is already on her way..YES !!amazing

  20. Hi Shaun, for stability later on in storms, do you have enough containers to store the fresh water from the fresh water ballast tank and then fill the tank with sea water for ballast ?.

That should add around 140 kilos down low where it should help.
also, I think someone already commented about it but a set of cotton or asorbant clothes secured on the top during a rain storm can be wrung out and the water collected in a bucket so that is likely to be ok for drinking or washing. Mike

  21. Red Dogg Roberts says:

“they all said it couldn’t be done, but he with a grin replied, he wasn’t one to say it couldn’t be done, leastways not until he’d tried” [Anon]. Quincey – this is a superlative effort! Love the fact that you’re doing something so completely ridiculous that you should be committed to an institution. Something however, makes this completely sane. You are bullet proof!

  22. Ros from Warrnambool Australia says:

  26. Richardson Family Blenheim says:

Whatever happens over the next few days you can deal with it. If you have a wee setback that’s all it is. You know you can do a week in the cabin, you know you can claw back lost miles, and you know you have outstanding gain days. One of those gain days will bring you home. Keep the focus and the rowing going :)

  27. your going ok mate, but keep your eye on the ball, setbacks can be harder to deal with at this stage. this last bit counts, we all know you are going to do it, but steady steps are the order of the day. safe arrival.

  28. Hi Shaun,
Yahooo, it looks as if you are flying .. your map shows a very l-o-n-g red line with your wake flowing behind and not far to go. Keep paddlin’ and surfin’.
